Suggestion to NASA’s political continuum…We Need Our Space Geeks Back!

in SPACE, Science

He has landed on the moon!  He is a rocket scientist.  In his piece yesterday on THE HUFFINGTON POST, Buzz Aldrin candidly expressed his disappointment in the test launching of the Ares 1-X rocket.  According to the quintessential space traveler, it seems the dog and (wait) not enough time for a pony component, the Ares 1-X rocket launch was simply a cosmetic PR gimmick designed to please government bureaucrats and not the community of elite rocket scientists who have warned of the wrong path NASA is following in this global race back to the moon and deep space.

Buzz Aldrin, the second man to set foot on the moon has made suggestions that are not only worthy of debate, but would also benefit the taxpayer by reducing their financial burden and transferring it to where it belongs, the private sector and willing investors who believe heart, money and soul in the endeavour.

Why are we continuing to depend on the state for innovation in space travel?

We need to answer this question and I am anxious to hear what you think.  Mr. Aldrin also went on to promote a rocket design that he and his team have devised after years of research, which borrows from the Shuttle design and achieves the intended objective without the idiotic hyper plumbing in much of today’s technology.

If the western world seeks the next economic boom, it should be in goal-specific science and engineering endeavours, not so-called green technologies that the totality of which does nothing to reduce carbon within the one hundred year time frame necessary to avoid Al Gore’s Apocalypse.  If you want to achieve all objectives in clean air, energy efficiency and economic prosperity, let the space geeks have at it.  You see, they have a vested interest in succeeding because they love the men and women they send up into space and they want them to come back alive.

Meanwhile, politicians are doing to the global economy what they have been doing to the space program for decades, suffocating it with over spending and a vision not guided by concrete objectives.

Please read the article.  Pass it on.  This is too important to leave in the hands of unimaginative bureaucrats.   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/buzz-aldrin/why-we-need-better-rocket_b_351335.html
